1. Next Wednesday, October 30, 2019 will be our annual Halloween Party.  1830-2100hrs.  Wear your costumes and be prepared for a fun filled night.
  2. Annual Validation Forms and Squadron Handbook Acknowledgement Forms are due back to the office no later than Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  Cadets who do not hand in their forms by the deadline will not be able to participate in any cadet activities until such time as the forms have been completed and handed in.   3. A reminder for the Annual Veteran’s dinner too help serve the meal. The timing’s will be 13:00 arrival at Br 72 Pembroke Legion and completion 16:30 on October 26, 2019.  For further information contact Capt. Gerrard at 613-732-1353 or email bruins628@hotmail.com.
  4. We will be assisting Branch 72 Royal Canadian Legion with poppy sales this year on the 2nd of November.  There will be 3 shifts scheduled for the following 10 – 12am, 12 – 2pm and 2 – 4pm at the Value Village.  Branch 72 Royal Canadian Legion is a major financial supporter of the squadron and I encourage all that are available to support them with poppy sales.  Please sign up as soon as possible with your availability.
  5. Biathlon practice Saturday, 26 October, 1300-1430 hrs, at Jubilee Lodge & Marina. Open to all cadets interested in learning more about the sport. Wear running shoes, athletic/sweat pants/leggings, jacket, gloves, toque. Bring water bottle.  Dress for the weather.
  6. Orienteering practice Saturday, 26 October, 1430-1500 hrs, at Jubilee Lodge & Marina for cadets advancing to Regional Competition (WO2 Sonoski, FCpl Shiman, Cpl Vermette and Cpl Kamaeva.
  7. Ground School is scheduled every Monday evening at the Pembroke Armoury from 1900-2100hrs (7-9pm) unless otherwise stated.
  8. Marksmanship is scheduled every Monday evening at the Pembroke Armoury from 1800-2100hrs (6:00-9:00pm).
  9. Get your 638 swag!  The Kit Shop will be taking orders for hoodies, jackets, sweatpants, T-shirt’s and ball caps until Wednesday, November 6th.  Samples are available to try on at the beginning and end of each Wednesday cadet night.  Water bottles are also available for purchase.
  10. Trivia Night is back!  Join us at the Pembroke Legion on Friday, November 8th at 7pm for a brain boosting round of trivia. Parents gather your friends and family to form teams of up to 8 people.  Register at sharon638aircadets@gmail.com.  The cost is $10/person. This is an adult fundraising event.
  11. Cadets and parents are reminded that cadets should not be at the Armoury on Wednesdays prior to 1800hrs (6pm).
  12. The new United Way campaign has been launched.  If you donate to the United Way through your work we would ask you to consider directing your donation to 638 Squadron.  The Squadron is registered as #638 Algonquin Squadron and our registration number is 130387665RR0036.  All donations are greatly appreciated.
